V60 brewer, filter, scales, timer
- Place your filter in the brewer and rinse it with hot water. This helps the filter adhere to the brewer and stay in place. It'll also get rid of any papery taste. You can discard this water.
- Pour your ground coffee in the filter making sure you have a flat level bed, and set your scale to 0. At this point you can start your timer and start gently pouring your water in circular motions. Pour until the scale hits 50g and wait. This is called the blooming stage.
- At 30 seconds, start your second pour. Repeating the same gentle circular motions, pour until the scale hits 150g.
- When your timer is at 01:10, start your third and final pour until the scale shows 250g.
- Let all the water drip through and by the time it's finished you should have reached a total brew time of around 1:40 to 2:00.
If your brew was too slow and tastes bitter, try adjusting your grind size to a coarser setting. If it was too fast and tastes sour, try grinding your coffee slightly finer.
