We’re a small independent coffee roaster based in Porto.

A small team of two brought together by the common denominator of diving head first into meaningful adventures.

Maria, with a background in design and storytelling, and Tiago who’s been running cafés for the last decade.
Hakko, his latest project (and first to serve Avalanche!) is a thoughtfully curated space serving coffee and food that has become a staple in the city.

With an exceptional barista team, Hakko ranked in Portugal’s best coffee shops of 2025. All those years brewing and selecting coffee from leading roasters to serve in the café, sparked his curiosity and undoubtedly gave him an idea of what we’d like to do next.

This project comes from wanting to do things differently.

We see it as our opportunity to play a meaningful role in a community where everyone can thrive. Steering away from catchy buzzwords and umbrella terms often connected to this industry, we believe all coffee should be grown sustainably, and every worker should be compensated fairly. We carry this belief in every choice we make in our business.

Locally, we want to continuing sharing great coffee, the stories behind it, as well as the knowledge we’ve gathered over time. From open cupping sessions where everyone can have an inside scoop into tasting coffee, to sharing brew recipes and any tips or tricks we’ve picked up.

Our curiosity for the multifaceted nature of coffee is ever growing.

We hope to keep learning and sharing it with everyone.
